HSCL is a specialist food hygiene and safety training and consultancy centre accredited by the Royal Society for the Promotion for Health (RSPH).

We offer QCA accredited training courses in food hygiene for caterers, retailers and food
Manufacturers, food safety management HACCP, SFBB, nutrition and health and safety.

Chartered Institue of Enviromental Health(CIEH), Royal Society for the Promotion of Health(RSPH)and/or
Qualifications Curricullum Assessment(QCA)
accredited qualifications are awarded following successful completetion of a course.

Our tutors have several years experience in food industry, academia and local authority environmental health enforcement.

A tutor is also an experienced examiner/ consultant for CIEH and RSPH intermediate and advance food safety examinations.

Our training centre is in Walthamstow, London close to Whipps Cross Hospital.

Courses can be delivered in house or at venues of clients'choice.

Training Dates
Courses are run every last Mondays and every Saturdays of each Month at our training centre in Walthamstow and as demanded depending on availability of trainers. In-house courses may be arranged for minimum of six candidates on customers’ premises.
Our training centre at 15 Salters Road, London E17 3PQ) can easily be reached from Walthamstow Central tube station by bus 6 and is close to Wood Street Train station (roughly 10 minutes walk – See map attached).

Food hygiene/safety training courses

LEVEL 1/2 Foundation/Fundamental Certificate in Food Hygiene

The course is aimed at anyone in food working environment, especially those who handle high-risk foods

Duration of the course: 6-9 hours for a day or two half days.

Qualification(s) to be gained: accredited QCA/CIEH/RSPH certificate.

LEVEL 3 Intermediate Certificate in Food Safety FOR CATETERS, RETAILER & MANUFACTURERS (CIEH/RSPH)

Course aimed at supervisors, middle management and individuals that prepare high-risk food that have taken the foundation course.

Duration of the course: At least 22 hours for 2-3 consecutive days including a 2-hour examination, which may be, short essay or multiple-choice objective questions on the 4th day.

Qualification(s) to be gained: accredited QCA/CIEH/RSPH certificate.

CIEH/RSPH/QCA Accredited HACCP Courses

Foundation & Intermediate Certificate in Hazard Analysis (HACCP) Principles & Practice
The course is aimed at food retail owners, managers, supervisors and HACCP team members in manufacturing, processing, catering and retail food organisations
Duration of the course: 2 consecutive days including the examination.
Qualification(s) to be gained: Accredited QCA/CIEH/RSPH certificate in HACCP practice / principles.

Level 2 - Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene for Caterers, Retailers & Manufacturers

One day or two half days course to provide for anyone in a food-working environment especially those who handle high-risk foods.

Course content: Bacteriology, food poisoning and its prevention, prevention of food contamination, personal hygiene, design of premises and equipment, cleaning and disinfection, pest control, legal requirements under current legislation, Hazards and control.

Mode of examination & duration: Short multiple-choice test lasting about 40 minute

Level 3 - Intermediate Certificate in Food Safety for Supervisors (CIEH & RSPH)

This course ensures supervisors and skilled workers receive a good standard of food hygiene knowledge. Design to enable potential managers to move towards the advance certificate in food safety. Designed for any one responsible for food safety. No formal qualification is required but a basic working knowledge of food industry is required.

Course content: Microbiology, food contamination and its prevention, food poisoning and food borne diseases, personal hygiene, food spoilage & preservation, food premises and equipment/designs, cleaning and disinfection, pest control, supervisory management and food legislation.

Exam type & duration: Short multiple-choice test or short essay questions lasting about 2 hours.

Level 4 - Advance Certificate in Food Safety FOR Caterers, Retailers & Manufacturers (CIEH & RSPH)

This is a 6-8 days intensive course, designed to provide managers and/or supervisors in food business with detailed and update information on food safety theory and practice.

Course content: The cost of food poisoning, bacteriology, food borne illness, physical contamination of food, food storage, temperature control and preservation, design and construction of food premises and equipment, pest control, personal hygiene, training strategies, legislation and management control techniques including HACCP.

Exam type & duration: Short and long essay questions including case study paper lasting about 2.5 hours. Plus submission of 1/2 assignment to course tutor before the written examination.
